Women in Leadership Training in Baghdad

July 2016 the Deputy Minister of Iraqi Higher Education and 5 women academics come to Vanguard to participate in a ten-day professional development leadership seminar.Vanguard 2016 Baghdad 2017July 2016 the Deputy Minister of Iraqi Higher Education and 5 women academics come to Vanguard to participate in a ten-day professional development leadership seminar. At the end of the seminar the strategic plan to further the role of women in leadership in Iraqi universities included developing a NETWORK with representatives from all 35 universities.May 2017Dr. Sandra Morgan went to Baghdad at the invitation of the Ministry of Higher Education to further the NETWORK development.  25 professors explored professional development themes around women’s leadership and empowerment, conflict management, and strategic network planning.  Dr. Morgan reported, “The resiliency of these leaders in the face of war, conflict, and terrorism is humbling. I learned more than I taught. We walked away with a simple reminder, water the flowers you want to grow.  The future of women in the Middle East depends on women in the Middle East. We will continue to support their leadership and water the seeds they have planted.”
